What is power training? (training with power)
Power Training is training with the use of a power meter. This power meter records the amount of wattage you are producing, along with heart rate, speed, and cadence measurements. This data can then be downloaded and analyzed to determine your optimal performance. Power is the ultimate training tool - it is instantaneous and does not lag effort.
Training with a power meter gives you a complete record of your effort. It records your effort from a cardiovascular viewpoint (HR) and from a muscular viewpoint (watts). It also allows you to give real meaning to your HR monitoring by comparing your HR data to your power output during your training sessions.
At MB Coaching we utilize the Power Tap hubs to measure power during training sessions. We also run, on an as-needed basis, power training camps for small groups where we supply the wheel with the Power Tap hub. We will take the group through specific training sessions and measure everyone's power output. At the end of the training camp each individual will recieve:
- a copy of their training sessions during the camp, including HR data, power output, speed, etc
- a report detailing their performance, with suggestions on where and how they can improve their power output.
We will customize your program to suit your goals - we have power tap wheels for you to use as part of the program.
Please contact us if you are interested in attending one of these training camps.
